Warm Lighting Selection

During our consultation with the homeowner it became clear that a cooler 3000K tone would not deliver the intimate, welcoming feel they wanted. We specified 2700K warm white LED fixtures across the property, maintaining a consistent, cozy glow in every zone while still providing ample functional light.

Key Design Highlights

Magnolias in the Garden Beds – Each tree is illuminated with a controlled 277 lumen fixture using a 60° beam angle, cowling, and hex louvre. This creates a soft, dappled effect with excellent glare control for the compact backyard. Clear Cedar Deck & Hot Tub Area – Mini soffit downlights connected to a dimmer let the homeowner adjust brightness whether they are enjoying the fire pit, relaxing in the hot tub, or hosting friends. Stonework and Steps – We used hidden pathway lighting with cowlings to discreetly mark elevation changes. The result improves both safety and nighttime aesthetics without introducing glare. Sauna Retreat – At the client's request, the sauna remains in gentle shadow, buffered by neighboring light levels to preserve privacy while still feeling intentional within the broader lighting composition.

Garage & Site Finish

Existing fixtures on the detached garage received 2700K dimmable lamps and soft wall-grazing uplights that frame the windows. From inside the kitchen, the homeowners now enjoy a balanced view of the garage backdrop and surrounding gardens. The layered lighting scheme blends architectural accents, garden focal points, and safe pathways into a cohesive nighttime experience.
