Whistler Landscape Lighting for a Mountainside Home

Our team designed and installed a complete lighting system for the front and backyard, including the home’s architecture, outdoor living areas, mature trees and forest pathways. For the architectural lighting, we selected a warm 2700K colour temperature. The home featured beautiful cedar accents, and the warmer light brought out the richness and natural tones of the wood while creating an inviting appearance after dark. The surrounding Whistler landscape was dominated by vibrant green foliage. Here, we transitioned to 3000K lighting, which allowed the greens to appear fresh and vivid while maintaining a comfortable and cohesive atmosphere throughout the property.

One of the property’s most distinctive features is a boardwalk integrated into the forest. It winds its way from the back deck to an elevated fire-pit area surrounded by trees. Rather than placing path lights alongside the boardwalk, we illuminated the entire route using carefully positioned downlights mounted within the trees. This created a soft, natural moonlighting effect that provides comfortable visibility without cluttering the walkway or distracting from the surrounding forest. Not a single path light was required. The result demonstrates how thoughtful landscape lighting design can improve safety and navigation while allowing the landscape itself to remain the focus.

Uplights were strategically located and precisely aimed to highlight trees, planting and architectural features without creating uncomfortable glare from the property’s primary viewing areas. Each fixture was selected and positioned so the lighting effect could be enjoyed without the light source becoming a distraction. This approach allowed us to reveal the depth and character of the property while maintaining a calm and refined nighttime environment.

The completed lighting system feels as though it belongs within its mountainside setting. It highlights the home’s architecture, guides movement through the property and reveals the surrounding forest after dark—without overpowering the natural beauty of Whistler.
